When to Contact Our Veterinarian for Sick Pet Care

Our veterinary clinic is equipped to handle many non-life-threatening health concerns. Some of the most common issues we treat during sick visits include:

Minor Wounds or Injuries:

Scratches, small cuts, or other minor injuries that don’t require emergency intervention

Ear Infections:

Symptoms can include head shaking, ear scratching, or foul odors

Persistent Vomiting or Diarrhea:

Gastrointestinal issues that last more than a day and could indicate an underlying problem

Excessive Drinking or Changes in Urination Habits:

Could signal potential concerns like diabetes or urinary tract infections

Bladder Infections:

Often characterized by straining, frequent urination, or accidents in the house

Lameness or Limping:

May result from sprains, strains, or injuries to the legs or paws.

While we can handle many common health issues, it’s important to note that we do not see pets for trauma or severe illnesses that require emergency intervention. If your pet is experiencing a life-threatening condition, please see the emergency care section for local emergency clinics.

We use experience and diagnostic tools to get to the bottom of your pet’s health issue.

When your pet visits us for a sick appointment, our veterinarian will start with a thorough physical examination to assess their condition. This exam furthers understanding of your companion’s symptoms and the source of the issue.

In addition to physical exams, we offer advanced diagnostic tools to provide quick and accurate answers. Our in-house laboratory can perform tests such as complete blood counts (CBC), chemistry panels, urinalysis, and more. These tests allow us to evaluate your pet’s overall health and pinpoint internal problems like infections, kidney issues, or anemia. We also use digital X-ray technology to diagnose fractures, internal injuries, or abnormalities that may not be visible during a physical exam.

Once the vet has made a diagnosis, we’ll create a treatment plan that prioritizes your pet’s comfort and recovery. From medications to follow-up care, we’re here to support you every step of the way.
